The Centre, Livingston marked its 50th anniversary in style at the weekend, 12th and 13th September, with a Fashion & Beauty event to bring shoppers together to celebrate five decades of being at the heart of the local community and also raise money for the children’s charity, Children’s Hospices Across Scotland, CHAS.

The two-day celebration featured colour analysis sessions and Autumn/Winter style advice from local stylist Leigh Maybury, who also took shoppers on a nostalgic journey through five decades of fashion. From iconic gold platforms to a vintage St Michael dress dating back to the late 1970s, shoppers enjoyed a trip down memory lane, showcasing how fashion trends have evolved over the past 50 years.

James McKay entertained shoppers throughout the weekend with a musical journey through the decades, performing much-loved tunes from the past 50 years.

The celebrations also featured model scouting and a ‘Guess the Fashion Year’ quiz, with shoppers getting the chance to test their fashion knowledge and win prizes, including £50 Gift Cards, lunch at NowNow Café and vouchers for Buzart.

As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations, NowNow Café, known for its freshly prepared, homemade-style food and South African-inspired menu, gifted a lucky shopper a £30 voucher. Mum Emma Greenshields from Falkirk was delighted to win while enjoying a day out with her daughter and son.
David Dewar, from Livingston, was lucky enough to win a £50 voucher to spend at Buzart Tattoo Studio, which specialises in bespoke tattoos.

The anniversary celebrations were made even more special with the first-ever arrival of Scottish beauty brand VIEVE at The Centre, Livingston, which marked a full-circle moment for Jamie Genevieve, who welcomed thousands of beauty fans to The Centre, Livingston for a live make-up masterclass in 2017. This time, her award-winning VIEVE brand took centre stage, giving shoppers the opportunity to discover and experience Jamie’s products with the help of her team of professional make-up artists.

Sara Merabet, from Fife, said, “I’ve been a fan of VIEVE products for a while. I love that Jamie is Scottish, and I really like how the products give you a natural-looking finish. They’re great for enhancing your look without feeling too heavy. All round it was the perfect day out to browse the range and do a bit of shopping too. I tend to visit the shopping centre a lot as the variety of stores is so good and I always manage to get what I’m looking for.”

The event also provided the opportunity to raise funds for The Centre, Livingston charity partner, CHAS – Scotland’s only children’s hospice charity, providing specialist palliative care, respite and support to babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions, and their families.
