The Centre, Livingston hosted another fantastic Autumn/Winter fashion event at the weekend where shoppers got some brilliant top trending tips from local stylist, Leigh Maybury and a mini colour analysis – and six lucky shoppers also received a £50 Gift Card from the style team to treat themselves!
The event followed on from the success of Leigh’s first Spring/Summer event in May this year where visitors travelled from around the country to get an insight into which seasonal shades they should be leaning towards when they are refreshing their wardrobe or adding essential pieces to their existing wardrobe.
Leigh said: “Thank you to The Centre, Livingston for inviting me back again to host another style event. It was lovely to chat to so many shoppers about which styles and colours suit them best and highlighting some of the key trends this season which include tweed, tartan and also animal prints.
“The mini colour analysis is always a big hit as so many of us tend to stick to shades we’ve been wearing for years – it was nice to be able to encourage people to try different ones this winter including red, burgundy, green and orange.”
Leigh also hosted a live ‘Style Talk’ on dopamine dressing, highlighting which hues tend give you a natural boost and showcasing various boots and coats to help complete your winter wardrobe.
Tips and tricks were also given to help style with confidence, including how to pick everyday outfits that are comfortable and how to create a more coherent wardrobe without the overwhelm.
Patrick Robbertze, Centre Director at The Centre, Livingston, said: “It was great to welcome Leigh back again to help our shoppers choose styles which are trending this season and give them a little bit of confidence to try something new.
“Shoppers travelled from afar again to find out which colours they should opt for, with some lucky visitors given an extra special surprise on the day when they were picked by our style team to receive a £50 Gift Card to treat themselves to something nice.”
Our style team were delighted to catch up with some of the shoppers that stopped by for style and colour tips from Leigh, who also shared some of their favourite stores and eateries with us which included Flannels, H&M, New Look, schuh and Nando’s.
Jo planned her trip to the shopping centre around having a style consultation with Leigh which she has always wanted to do, to help her pick the right outfits that suit her the most.
Jo said: “It was great to get advice from Leigh on what styles and colours I should be choosing as I do have a tendency to opt for the same colours all the time.
“It was an extra special treat to receive a £50 Gift Card on the day which I’m looking forward to spending on a new winter coat.”
New parents Nisa and Mikey had a great catch up with Leigh on which colours to focus on this season, however both looked fantastic in their autumn camel and cream shades even before their consultation.
“We really enjoy shopping at The Centre, Livingston especially popping into stores like River Island, H&M and schuh – although today it was an added bonus to get some fashion and colour tips. It was also such a lovely surprise to receive a £50 Gift Card.
“We’ve been shopping for our new baby today and now we’re thinking we might just treat ourselves to something special.”
“I’ve wanted to get my colours analysed for a while, especially as my mum and sister have had it done and they look great, particularly when it comes to wearing shades that work best for them.
“Leigh was fantastic at explaining what I should and shouldn’t go for when picking out colours and styles that bring out my strongest features. It was nice to know that pink is one of my colours as it is already one of my go-to shades.
“I’m very grateful for the £50 Gift Card which I’m going use to treat myself to something along the lines of Leigh’s advice, from one of my favourite shops – River Island.”
It was great to catch up with retired teacher, Frances, at the event who loves shopping with her daughters. We also had the chance to wish them luck at the Kiltwalk they were taking part in to raise funds for the charity, Breast Friends & Family.
Frances said: “We live locally so it’s always nice to come to The Centre, Livingston for a meander around the shops and have a bite to eat, often at Nando’s which we love.
“Today was extra special as my daughter got a colour analysis from Leigh and we were both very lucky to be presented with Gift Cards.
“We are now planning to pop into our favourite stores including M&S – where we also like to food shop – and pick up something nice to wear, especially as we now know what we should be looking for in terms of styles and colours.”

“It was great to have time out together to do it with Russell and Victoria who loved it too. It really added to our special day out when we received £50 Gift Card to treat ourselves to lunch – thank you!
