The Centre, Livingston which has been paying tribute to volunteers in the community for over a decade, welcomes another superstar, Chloe McCord, into the shopping centre to receive a framed certificate and a £100 Gift Card for her outstanding efforts at the charity, Thrive.
Based in Armadale, the charity, which was founded by the former teacher Rachel O’Neill and formerly known as Let’s Rock the Spectrum, offers nurturing support for all families and their children in the local area, especially those with additional support needs.
Thrive has an inclusive play space for children up to seven years of age, with an enclosed baby area, a sensory area with self-regulating aids, including weighted blankets, and an outside garden area. The charity also runs a wide variety of classes, ranging from a creative writing club and clay imprinting classes to arts & crafts and ceramic painting sessions.
Various events also take place, including during the school holidays, and they also offer full venue hire for birthday parties.
As soon as Rachel heard about The Centre, Livingston Volunteer Award, Chloe immediately sprang to mind as someone who has been an incredible support to the charity and who deserves recognition for all of her efforts.
Her role as a volunteer has included everything from helping with all the cleaning and maintenance to creating a business plan to secure the long-term future of the charity and spreading the word about the services and support they offer to everyone in the local community.

Chloe said: “I am absolutely blown away to have been nominated for this Volunteer Award by Rachel, which was such a lovely surprise. Helping her out over the last year has been great – I’ve loved every minute of it and I’m so pleased it has helped make such a difference to the organisation.
“Thanks so much to everyone at The Centre, Livingston for the personalised certificate and Gift Card which I’m immensely grateful for.”
Patrick Robbertze, Centre Director at The Centre, Livingston said: “Shining a light on volunteers in the community is an honour, especially when we hear about the fantastic work that people like Chloe are doing in their own time to help other people and keep charities going.
“We are always on the lookout for anyone who goes the extra mile to help those in the community, so if you know anyone who deserves to be recognised and rewarded with this Award, we’d love to hear from you and give them recognition they deserve and a £100 Gift Card to treat themselves.”
