To celebrate International Artist Day on 25th October, we’re launching a competition asking you to design a Christmas Illustration. The winning entry will be displayed at the mall and the winner will receive a £250 Gift Card.
Over the last five years The Centre has supported over 30 local and internationally acclaimed artists with exhibitions, mural commissions, art trails and classes for shoppers.
The Centre’s first art event in 2017 was a giant 3D Art Frog Sculpture Trail, which featured artwork from Livingston-born artist Gregor Louden, Ciara Dunne, graffiti artist ‘Elph’ and illustrator Danielle Callaghan, as well as community groups and schools, including Dedridge Primary School and Craigshill Good Neighbour Network.
Gregor also designed a large-scale ‘All Roads Lead to The Centre’ mural in The Centre alongside Cassandra Harrison’s artwork entitled ‘Community Connections’ and both recently joined the ceramic artist, Helen Michie, to host free family art classes, which have been a big hit with shoppers this year.
Additional art projects include a Spring Flower School Drawing Competition and designing plinth artworks for 8ft Christmas nutcrackers last year, which featured art by local schools, community groups and artists, Chiara Celini, Briony Helen Illustrations, Lisa Ainslie and visual artist Chris Young.
As part of our ongoing support for the arts, we’re celebrating International Artist Day by giving someone the chance to design a Christmas illustration which will take pride of place in The Centre throughout the festive period for all of our shoppers to enjoy.
As well as giving a budding artist a platform to showcase their work, the winner will also receive a £250 Gift Card to spend at The Centre.
